These Shinging hours
Catherine Reinhart
Featuring Kansas City-based mixed media artist Catherine Reinhart, these shining hours presents fiber artworks that explores community and invisible labor - both manual and artistic. Through adorning worn work gloves found abandoned at construction sites and gifted by my fellow artists, she creates modern relics that venerate these discarded textiles.
This exhibition of interdisciplinary works meditates on unseen labor, moving from the underappreciated efforts of motherhood to other laborers neglected by our society - artists, migrant and farm laborers, and home health caregivers. Reinhart asks, “Whose labor, bodies, and well-being are valued and protected in our society? Whose are not? More importantly, who gets to make these decisions?”
